This is the personal site of Dawnja Burris, Associate Dean and Assistant Professor at the School of Media Studies, The New School

In my classroom, everyone is entitled to freely express their ideas. We openly (re)think, (re)imagine and (re)create, leaving no room for judgement. I love working with my students, they are the coolest people I know.
Have you ever thought how we refer to, relate with, represent, fear and revere animals? Well, I have. A lot. I examine representation of the animal in the media and the resulting relationship humans maintain with the image.
I have worked in several capacities in professional video production: from editor to producer to videographer and graphic artist. I focus on works that emphasize social and cultural instances. You can see them here.
